Girls Hoo Hack 2020

Mara Hart founded Girls Who Code at UVA in February 2020. She studies Computer Science at the University of Virginia and will graduate Fall 2021. This past summer, she interned at Microsoft where she worked with React JS. Now, she TAs for CS 1110 using Python, CS 2150 using C++, and CS 1501 focusing on professional development. She’s excited to be a part of this weekend with you and proud of her hackathon team for putting on this amazing event.

Larissa Lu is a Software Engineer at Maxar Technologies. She graduated in 2018 with a degree in Data Science and has participated in two Hackathons in the past. She primarily works with backend Python, Java, and C++ and also has expertise in framework design, git and Linux. She is available to mentor emerging software engineers and data scientists.

Todd is a Sr. Director for the Strategic Growth team at Maxar Technologies based in the Washington, DC area. He focuses on mission-driven innovation across industry, government, and academia that utilizes satellite imagery, geospatial analytics, and artificial intelligence. Since 2010, Mr. Bacastow has worked in product management, strategic partnership, and solution marketing roles within Maxar’s predecessor companies including DigitalGlobe, GeoEye, and SPADAC. Previously, he was an associate at FirstMark Capital, a venture capital firm in New York. Mr. Bacastow earned a B.S. in Information Sciences and Technology with honors from The Pennsylvania State University in 2005.

Ms. Jain is a Software Engineer at Maxar Technologies with 15 years of backend software development across various technologies and enterprise architectures. She currently works to provide solutions in distributed architectures design and implementation in AWS cloud. She also co-authored and presented a paper called “Business Process Models Applied to Operation Ground Systems” at SpaceOps 2018 International Conference in Marseilles, France. She is Colorado University Boulder graduate with Master’s degree in Telecommunications.

Danielle Zevitz is the founding Vice President of Girls Who Code at UVA. She is a junior studying Computer Science at the University of Virginia, and is interesting in doing Cybersecurity for the government when she graduates. This past summer, she worked with the Defense Technical Information Center through the National Security Innovation Network on a web application. In her free time, she likes to play several instruments, including the Clarinet and Trombone.
